Access ArcGIS for Autodesk Forma

The ArcGIS for Autodesk Forma extension allows for enhanced geospatial analysis and design capabilities. You can access the extension within Forma Site Design, allowing you to combine the capabilities of ArcGIS and Autodesk Forma for a more collaborative, comprehensive, and efficient workflow.

Note:

To access the ArcGIS for Autodesk Forma extension, a Contributor or above user type is needed.

Add the ArcGIS for Autodesk Forma extension

The ArcGIS for Autodesk Forma extension card is available in the Extensions sidebar.

To add ArcGIS for Autodesk Forma to Forma Site Design, complete the following steps:

  1. Click the Extensions button Extensions in Forma Site Design.

    The Extensions sidebar appears.

  2. Click the Add extension button Add extension button.

    The Autodesk App Store opens and displays all available extensions.

  3. Find the ArcGIS for Autodesk Forma extension card and click the Add button.

  4. Click the Agree button to allow access to add the extension.

    ArcGIS for Autodesk Forma is added to the Extensions sidebar.

Access the extension

ArcGIS for Autodesk Forma supports a native sign-in experience for ArcGIS Online users and ArcGIS Enterprise 12.1 and later users. Important:

If your organization is configured with IWA, PKI, or LDAP authentication models, you do not need to create a Client ID.

Sign in to your ArcGIS account

To sign in to ArcGIS for Autodesk Forma, complete the following steps:

  1. Click ArcGIS for Autodesk Forma in the Extensions sidebar Extensions in Forma Site Design.

    The extension opens to the landing page.

  2. Click Sign in with ArcGIS Online or Sign in with ArcGIS Enterprise.

  3. If you are using ArcGIS Enterprise, type the organization's portal URL path following the format https://webadaptorhost.domain.com/webadaptorname/.

    Tip:

    In Google Chrome, you may be prompted with a browser notification that says app.autodeskforma.com wants to access other devices on your local network. Click Allow.

  4. Click Sign in.

    Tip:

    ArcGIS Enterprise 12.0 or earlier users may experience an invalid client_id warning. To resolve this warning, close the window, enter the correct Client ID generated from the ArcGIS setup, and click Sign in again.

  5. Enter your ArcGIS account username and password in the sign-in window.

    Note:

    Depending on your organization's authentication configuration, you may be signed in automatically.

  6. Click Sign in.

    ArcGIS for Autodesk Forma grants access to your ArcGIS account and you can start adding GIS layers into Forma Site Design.

    Tip:

    After signing in, the ArcGIS Enterprise URL and Client ID entered are prepopulated for future sign-in attempts.

  7. Optionally, click the User Menu button and click Sign out.

    The extension returns to the landing page.

    Note:

    Signing out of the extension removes all view-only ArcGIS layers from Forma Site Design. Complete the sign-in workflow to visualize the view-only layers.

After you complete the steps above, you are ready to add ArcGIS layers to Forma Site Design.
