Bookmark places

Bookmarks provide shortcuts to places on a map. As a map author, you create them based on the current location, scale, and rotation of the map. When others click a bookmark, the map zooms to that location.

Note:

To access ArcGIS Maps for Fabric, you must have a supported ArcGIS organizational account. By signing in with your ArcGIS organizational account, you can access your ArcGIS Online content as well as your organization's content, basemaps, and ArcGIS Living Atlas layers. You cannot access ArcGIS Maps for Fabric with an ArcGIS Public account.

Create a bookmark

To create a bookmark, complete the following steps:

Tip:

Confirm that your ArcGIS organizational account user type is Creator or higher and that your user role is Contributor or higher in the Microsoft Fabric workspace where you are working to save changes to the map.

  1. Open ArcGIS Maps for Fabric and sign in to your ArcGIS organizational account.

  2. In the map, navigate to the location and scale where you want to create the bookmark.

  3. On the Contents toolbar, click Bookmarks Bookmarks, and click + Add bookmark.

  4. Provide a Title for the bookmark and click Add.

    The bookmark is added to the list of bookmarks.

  5. Save the map to retain changes to your bookmarks.

Go to an existing bookmark

To zoom the map to an existing bookmark, complete the following steps:

  1. Open an existing map in ArcGIS Maps for Fabric and sign in to your ArcGIS organizational account.

  2. On the Contents toolbar, click Bookmarks Bookmarks to open the Bookmarks pane.

  3. Click the name of the bookmark you want to zoom to.

    The map zooms to the bookmark.

Update a bookmark

To update or delete an existing a bookmark, complete the following steps:

  1. Open an existing map in ArcGIS Maps for Fabric where your bookmark is saved and sign in to your ArcGIS organizational account.

  2. On the Contents toolbar, click Bookmarks Bookmarks to open the Bookmarks pane.

  3. Optionally, update a bookmark in the following ways:

    • Drag the Reorder Reorder handles of a bookmark to reorder the list.

    • Click Edit Edit next to a bookmark to rename it, provide a new name, and click Save.

    • Click Edit Edit next to a bookmark to update the location, pan to a new location on the map, and click Save.

    • Click Edit Edit next to the bookmark you want to delete, and click Delete.

  4. Save the map to retain changes to your bookmarks.

Edit a bookmark thumbnail

You can choose whether the thumbnail of a bookmark displays the map extent or an image. To edit the bookmark thumbnail, complete the following steps:

  1. Open an existing map in ArcGIS Maps for Fabric where your bookmark is saved and sign in to your ArcGIS organizational account.

  2. On the Contents toolbar, click Bookmarks Bookmarks to open the Bookmarks pane.

  3. Click Edit Edit next to the bookmark with the thumbnail you want to edit.

  4. Edit the thumbnail in any of the following ways:

    • Click Update Update to refresh the map extent of the Screenshot thumbnail.

    • Choose URL, provide the URL of an image, and click Add to use an image for the thumbnail.

    • Choose None to remove the thumbnail.

  5. Click Save to save the thumbnail.

  6. Save the map to retain changes to your bookmarks.
