Set network analyst editing options

Application options for network analyst editing allow you to enable or disable group connectivity and automatic edge attribute updates for turn features. The settings affect editing tools that recognize network dataset features when using the ArcGIS Network Analyst extension.

Enable or disable connectivity

When creating, modifying, and snapping linear network features in the same connectivity group, defined connectivity rules maintain connectivity between edges and junctions. How network elements connect depends on the connectivity groups in which the elements participate.

To enable or disable this behavior, complete the following steps:

  1. Click the ribbon Edit tab. In the Manage Edits group, click the Options dialog box launcher .

    The Options dialog box appears.

  2. Click the Editing side tab and expand Network Analyst.

  3. Check or uncheck the Maintain network connectivity when creating or modifying edges checkbox.

    Checked

    Apply existing group connectivity rules when creating, modifying, and snapping linear network features. This is the default setting.

    Unchecked

    Disable existing group connectivity rules.

  4. To reset Network Analyst options to the default settings, click Reset .

  5. Click OK.

    Your settings are saved and the dialog box closes.

Enable or disable automatic attribute updates for turn features

When snapping a turn feature to a feature that is participating in the same network dataset, the relevant Edge#FCID, Edge#FID, and Edge#Pos edge attribute fields automatically update with the values of the snapped elements.

To enable or disable this behavior, complete the following steps:

  1. Click the ribbon Edit tab. In the Manage Edits group, click the Options dialog box launcher .

    The Options dialog box appears.

  2. Click the Editing side tab and expand Network Analyst.

  3. Check or uncheck the Maintain network connectivity when creating or modifying edges checkbox.

    Checked

    Update the relevant turn feature edge attributes with values of the snapped elements participating in the same network dataset for fields Edge#FCID, Edge#FID, and Edge#Pos.

    Unchecked

    Don’t update turn feature edge attributes when snapping to features in the same network dataset.

  4. To reset Network Analyst options to the default settings, click Reset .

  5. Click OK.

    Your settings are saved and the dialog box closes.
