Description

The output dataset already exists.

Solution

When the tool will delete and replace an existing dataset, this message will be shown on the tool dialog box prior to running the tool. Depending on the Allow geoprocessing tools to overwrite existing datasets option, the message may be a warning or an error.

• Warning—The existing dataset will be deleted when the tool is run. Verify that this is the intended outcome before proceeding.

• Error—The tool cannot be run.

This message will also occur when a tool fails because the output dataset already exists and the overwrite did not succeed or was not allowed.
