010232: Unable to rename a dataset to <value>.

Description

The dataset could not be renamed. This could be due to any of the following reasons:

1. The new name is invalid.

2. There may already be a dataset at the location with the same name.

3. The dataset is locked as a result of being accessed by another ArcMap or ArcCatalog session.

4. You do not have permission to rename the dataset.

Solution

To avoid this problem, ensure the following:

1. The name change for the dataset is valid.

2. The name is unique to that folder.

3. The dataset is not being accessed by another ArcGIS session.

4. You have the correct permissions.
