Configure navigation
You can add and configure the navigation experience in stories and collections.
Enable story navigation
Story navigation is an optional story element that provides readers with links to the main sections of your story. The navigation bar also gives readers a visual indication of their current location in the story.
Use the following steps to enable the story navigation bar and configure its links:
In the story builder header, click Design.
Under Optional story sections, turn on Navigation.
The story navigation bar appears near the top of the story below the cover.
Hover over the navigation bar and click Options.
The Story navigation options panel appears.
Note:
To see the Options button, the story must have at least one heading 1.
Select the headings to include in the story navigation.
Story navigation can link to level-1 headings from the main body of the story, sidecar blocks, and the credits section. The icon next to each heading indicates the type of section in which it is located.
Note:
You can include up to 30 heading links in story navigation. If your story has more than 30 headings, select the ones you want to include in the navigation bar.
Optionally, rename the heading links.
Tip:
Each heading link has a 30-character limit, but shorter headings are recommended.
Click Save.
The story navigation bar is shown at the top of the story with configured heading links.
Collection navigation
You can change the collection navigation experience to suit your preference. There are three navigation options:
Compact—Forward and backward arrows provide a simplified navigation experience.
Tabbed—Collection item titles are displayed in the navigation bar.
Bulleted—Numbered icons are displayed in the navigation bar.
