Data preparation requirements

Available with an ArcGIS Topographic Mapping license.

The topographic production workflows included with the ArcGIS Topographic Mapping extension use data that must be stored in an enterprise geodatabase. The following settings must also be configured:

• When Topographic data is stored in an enterprise geodatabase, the dataset must have the following:

  • Traditional versioning enabled

  • Global IDs

  • Editor tracking enabled to use attribute rules

• The data must be published as a service with the Topographic Production Service capability enabled.

  Note:

  An enterprise geodatabase is also required to host the Topographic Production Service database.

• After the service is published, an .sde connection file for the topographic data geodatabase must be saved where the Topographic Mapping product data files are installed on the server machine. The connection file must be named the same as the service ID of the MapServer service, for example, 257da19aa16f4fe08cbbd438d42d260a.sde.
