Data production workflows include a streamlined process to edit traditional versioned data either through a direct connection to the enterprise geodatabase that it resides in, or by creating a checkout replica.

Note:

Branch versioned datasets are not currently supported.

Edit task job

When a data production task group job is created, the Topographic Production Service runs processes to check out data and update a map's data sources to the correct data. A task job is created with a simple workflow that enables technicians to download the map and data in ArcGIS Pro for editing.

Quality control task job

Once editing work is complete, the task group job automatically creates another task job for quality control of the updated data. When this job is run, the job data is downloaded, and by default the error inspector pane automatically opens with errors flagged in the data editing task job by an editor.

Data publish task job

When quality control work is completed, you can choose to create another round of editing and quality control child tasks if any rework is required. Otherwise, you can close the job. This triggers the task group job to create a final task job to publish the data.

This final task job can be configured to run automatically using the Design tab in ArcGIS Workflow Manager to update the job's initial step options from manual to automatic.

By default, the final task job does not start automatically. It must be run by the creator of the parent task group job. The creator is automatically assigned to this final task job. When it is run, it automatically completes unless there is an error encountered or conflict identified. The workflow includes a step that allows the user to open ArcGIS Pro to review conflicts.

Otherwise, it synchronizes changes in the check out replica scenario and posts the edits to the default version in the enterprise geodatabase.

Tip:

The addProduct REST operation can be used to configure automatic conflict resolution or flagging so that the changes are reviewed during the data publishing workflow.
