Split lines into COGO lines

The Split Into COGO Lines tool creates two-point COGO lines and arcs by splitting features at each vertex. You can split the selected features or preserve them and create the split lines on a specified COGO-enabled layer. This tool is available in the Modify Features pane.

To split lines into COGO lines, complete the following steps:

  1. Click the ribbon Edit tab. In the Corrections group, click Ground To Grid, and verify your ground to grid settings.

  2. On the ribbon Edit tab, click Modify in the Features group.

    The Modify Features pane appears.

  3. Click the Split Into COGO Lines tool .

    To find the tool, expand COGO, or type COGO in the Search text box.

    The tool opens and the Select tool automatically runs.

  4. Select the line features to be split into COGO two-point lines and arcs.

    The selected features appear in the selection view.

    To refine the selection, right-click a feature in the selection view, and click Unselect or Only Select This .

    Tip:

    If a line feature does not exist, you can create one using a feature template. When you click Finish or press F2, the tool uses it as the current selection.

    If features are currently selected, the selection tool displays Change the selection.

  5. Check or uncheck the Use Template check box.

    Checked

    Preserve the selected features and create COGO line features on the specified layer. Click the layer drop-down arrow and choose a layer with a COGO-enabled data source.

    Unchecked

    Modify the selected features.

  6. Check or uncheck the Split lines with existing COGO attributes check box.

    Checked

    Split lines and override existing COGO attributes.

    Unchecked

    Don't split lines containing COGO attributes and preserve existing values.

  7. Click Split.
