TIN To Multipatch (3D Analyst Tools)
Summary
Converts a TIN dataset to a multipatch feature class. The tool optionally adds a base skirt around the multipatch to create a closed space.
Usage
Triangles from a TIN will be converted triangles in a multipatch with an optional base, or skirt, added that is dropped down around the perimeter so it looks like a solid, rather than just a 2.5D surface.
To add a base, provide a height for the bottom of it using the Base Height parameter. The height needs to be less than the z-minimum of the TIN.
This conversion will allow you to share and view TIN-related data more easily, and enable use of multipatch based feature analysis tools on the triangles coming from the TIN.
Use the Simplification Tolerance parameter value to reduce the number of triangles output to the multipatch feature class. The tolerance represents the allowable deviation in height between the generalized surface and the full resolution surface. To maximize rendering and analysis performance, simplify the output to keep the size of the output multipatch data small.
