An overview of the Data Preparation toolset

The Data Preparation toolset contains tools that perform data preparation tasks. You can use these tools to prepare data for use in the Create Locator tool.

Tools in the Data Preparation toolset

Tool	Description
Assign Streets To Points	Finds the best street feature candidate for a point using address information, such as house numbers and street names, as well as distance. Address information is prioritized over distance.
Assign Zones To Streets	Assigns left and right administrative zone values—such as neighborhood, city, metro, or postal code—to street line segments for street addresses.
Split Address Into Components	Splits street address information into address components and creates a table or feature class with the additional components added as unique fields.
