Build Parcel Fabric (Parcel Tools)

Summary

Builds parcels in a parcel fabric. Parcels can be built from polygons or lines and seeds. If parcels are built from polygons, the tool creates parcel lines and parcel points. If parcels are built from lines and seeds, the tool creates the missing polygons and points. When building parcels from lines, parcel seeds are required.

Additionally, the following data is updated:

• Parcel record polygons are updated to match the cumulative geometry of all the parcels associated with them.

• The Parcel Count field in the Records feature class is updated with the number of parcels associated with each record.

• If the COGO Accuracy field in the Records feature class has an accuracy value, it will be transferred to the COGO Accuracy field of all the lines associated with the record.

Note:

Record polygons are not created or updated when more than 2,000 parcels are associated with a record.

Usage

• Use this tool when building an entire parcel fabric dataset or a large number of parcels.

• Parcel fabric geodatabase topology must be enabled.

• If parcel polygons or lines are associated with a parcel record, the created features will be associated with the same record. Record polygons will be updated.

• Only current parcels will be built. Historic parcels will not be built.

• When building parcels from polygons, a single line is created for adjacent boundaries.

• If both an extent and a record name are specified, the tool will build parcels that fall within the extent and are associated with the specified record name. If a parcel falls within the extent but is not associated with the specified record name, it will not be built. If a parcel is associated with the specified record name but does not fall within the extent, it will not be built.

• If adjacent polygons are from adjacent records, the line is associated with the record with the most recent recorded date. If the recorded date is not specified, the line is assigned to the record that was most recently created in the database (the Created Date field). If the database creation dates are the same, the line is randomly assigned to one of the records.

Input Parcel Fabric	The parcel fabric for which to parcels will be built. The parcel fabric can be from a file or mobile geodatabase, or from a feature service.	Parcel Layer
Extent (Optional)	The extent of the dataset to be processed. Only features that fall within the specified extent will be processed. Current Display Extent —The extent will be based on the active map or scene. Draw Extent —The extent will be based on a rectangle drawn on the map or scene. Extent of a Layer —The extent will be based on an active map layer. Choose an available layer or use the Extent of data in all layers option. Each map layer has the following options: All Features —The extent of all features. Selected Features —The extent of the selected features. Visible Features —The extent of visible features. Browse —The extent will be based on a dataset. Intersection of Inputs —The extent will be the intersecting extent of all inputs. Union of Inputs —The extent will be the combined extent of all inputs. Clipboard —The extent can be copied to and from the clipboard. Copy Extent —Copies the extent and coordinate system to the clipboard. Paste Extent —Pastes the extent and coordinate system from the clipboard. If the clipboard does not include a coordinate system, the extent will use the map's coordinate system. Reset Extent —The extent will be reset to the default value. When coordinates are manually provided, the coordinates must be numeric values and in the active map's coordinate system. The map may use different display units than the provided coordinates. Use a negative value sign for south and west coordinates.	Extent
Record Name (Optional)	The name of the existing parcel record. Only parcels associated with this record will be built. If an extent is also specified, only parcels that are associated with the specified record and fall within the specified extent will be built.	String
