181108: Unable to georeference. Insufficient keyframes to position control point at video time <value>. Output features will not be georeferenced.

Description

The tool attempts to georeference the output features based on estimated positions of video frames near user-specified video times. If a condition prevents the tool from estimating the position for a frame, it will not use that frame. If the tool finds no usable video frames close to the specified video time, this warning is issued. The tool positions the output features that are not georeferenced near the origin (0,0) of the coordinate system of the layer provided for the Target Oriented Imagery parameter.

Conditions that can cause a frame to be unusable include the following:

  • Blur—Obfuscation from dirty lenses, fast or jerky camera movement, or being too close to objects.

  • Overexposure or underexposure—Bright lights, low lighting or shadows, or sensitive camera exposure settings.

  • Insufficient contrast—Walls, floors, furniture, and other objects are difficult to distinguish when viewed in grayscale.

  • Plain surroundings—Significant portions of the frame show uniformly blank or noisy surfaces.

  • Visual discontinuities—Rapid camera movement between rooms or areas with different lighting or decor.

  • Repetitive architecture—Long, repetitive features, such as a long hallway with identical office spaces.

Solution

Change the specified Video Time parameter value to a different timestamp in the video that is free from problematic conditions. Alternatively, you can georeference the output features manually using the Move, Scale, and Rotate tools or the Transform tool in the Modify Features pane.
