Cartographic production

Much like the data production workflows, the cartographic production workflows automate pre-production processes that readies the data and map for you to begin work. The task group job extracts the data over the specified Area of Interest (AOI) to the file geodatabase and sources the pre-configured layout to this data.

Topographic Production Service involvement

Once data is extracted from the AOI, the task group job automatically creates an automated task job that runs the generateProduct REST operation on the topographic production server to create the cartographic product. The processes to run this tool be configured using the addProduct REST operation, enabling significant custom cartographic automation.

Cartographic finishing task

When this task job is complete, the task group job automatically creates another task job for cartographic finishing. This job enables a cartographer to download the generateProduct REST operation's output and, in ArcGIS Pro, make any manual edits required to the data and layout. Once the cartographer is done and closes the task job, that action triggers the task group job to create the final task job for cartographic review and publishing.

You then have the option to create another round of cartographic finishing and review if any rework is required. Once ready, you can export the final product from ArcGIS Pro and close the task group job.
