What's new
Major and minor releases also include new functionality, which are described in What's new for ArcGIS AllSource and What's new for ArcGIS Pro.
ArcGIS AllSource and ArcGIS Pro
ArcGIS AllSource is a geospatial-enabled intelligence workstation for intelligence professionals. ArcGIS Pro is a professional GIS system for a wide audience of users in many industries. Both applications share many common features and capabilities but focus on different types of users. ArcGIS AllSource and ArcGIS Enterprise
ArcGIS is a system that can be extended with multiple products to fit many needs. Two products that are frequently used together are ArcGIS AllSource and ArcGIS Enterprise. Major and minor versions of these products are developed together and released within months of each other so that shared functionality can be introduced and improved.
Although earlier and later versions of ArcGIS AllSource and ArcGIS Enterprise work together for most functionality, pairing companion versions is recommended. When that isn't possible, staying within a range of two companion versions is recommended. The following table lists the companion versions:

When specific minimum software version combinations are required for a certain functionality, that will be stated in the documentation for that functionality.
Third-party deprecations that impact ArcGIS AllSource
Microsoft .NET 8.0 Desktop Runtime
Microsoft .NET 8.0 Desktop Runtime is not used with ArcGIS AllSource 1.6 because it is scheduled to be retired November 2026. Microsoft .NET 10.0 Desktop Runtime is required instead. For more information see current system requirements.
Note:
You can install .NET 10.0 Desktop Runtime on a machine that currently has .NET 8.0 Desktop Runtime installed.
VBScript
With Windows 11, version 24H2, VBScript becomes a feature on demand. Although it is enabled by default in version 24H2, disabling it will cause certain functionality in ArcGIS AllSource to stop working.
In a later Windows release, the VBScript feature will be disabled by default, and you will need to manually enable it if required. Microsoft has announced plans to fully remove VBScript from Windows in later versions. ArcGIS Pro users are encouraged to prepare for its removal as soon as possible.

User-schema geodatabases in Oracle
Connections to a user-schema geodatabase in Oracle are no longer supported. If you still have user-schema geodatabases, move the content (ArcGIS Pro) out of them and delete the user-schema geodatabases (ArcGIS Pro) before you upgrade to ArcGIS AllSource 1.6.
Removal and deprecation notices
Notices are released when it is determined that functionality will be removed from a future version of ArcGIS AllSource. The notices describe what will be removed, so you can evaluate whether your workflows will be affected; alternative functionality, so you can find other ways to reach the same or similar results; and when the removal will occur, if known.
Functionality removed at ArcGIS AllSource 1.6
The following subsection notes functionality that was removed at ArcGIS AllSource 1.6:
Single Use licensing changes
As of December 1, 2025, it is no longer possible in My Esri to convert Named User licenses to Single Use licenses, or to convert those licenses to Named User licenses.
New Single Use licenses must be obtained. For more information, see Single Use License change for ArcGIS Products
The help viewer installed with ArcGIS AllSource
The help viewer that has previously been installed with ArcGIS AllSource has been deprecated, as has the functionality within it. This viewer is replaced by the ArcGIS Documentation Center, which allows you to download documentation sets for different products and for different languages. The new ArcGIS Documentation Center is an application that is downloaded separately from My Esri. More information can be found at Introduction to ArcGIS Documentation Center.
ModelBuilder
The Flip Flow Direction setting has been removed from ModelBuilder diagram properties. This change does not alter the flow direction or layout of existing model diagrams.
Raster file formats
Raster file formats that have been deprecated or are scheduled to be deprecated in a release after ArcGIS Pro 3.7 can be found in the Deprecated raster file formats (ArcGIS Pro) topic.
Functionality that will be removed in future releases of ArcGIS AllSource
The following subsection notes functionality that is scheduled to be removed in a release after ArcGIS AllSource 1.6.
