Tools Panel

The Tools Panel contains tools that work directly with the web service in the canvas. The tools include features that can compare imagery from different periods of time, analyze imagery and video through markup and measurements, and export the current view for use in presentations. Some tools such as Raster Templates, NDVI, Compute Change, Deep Learning, and Imagery Clip may require additional configurations in your environment. See Requirements for more information.

The following are the tools in the Tools Panel:

  • Comparison tools—Conduct automated pixel-based or raster analysis comparisons within imagery in the Map Panel using the following tools:

    • Swipe

    • Flicker

    • Detect Change—This tool is only available when connected to the canvas with an ArcGIS imagery layer.

    • Compute Change—This tool is only available when connected to the canvas with an ArcGIS imagery layer or ArcGIS tiled imagery layer.

  • Analysis tools—Highlight areas of interest through markup, labeling, and measurements. The Mark Up, Count, and Measure tools are available for all service and layer types. These tools can only be used in the Map Panel when connected to an ArcGIS video layer or oriented imagery layer. The Deep Learning tool can be used to automate the task of recording observations and extracting geographical features from your analysis layer. The NDVI tool can be used to detect relative biomass (greenness) in a raster image. The Raster Templates tool can be used to run raster function templates against your imagery.

    • Mark Up

    • Count

    • Measure

    • Deep Learning—This tool is only available when you have created an Excalibur project and at least one ArcGIS imagery layer, ArcGIS tiled imagery layer, or ArcGIS tile layer is added to the project.

    • NDVI—This tool is only available when connected to the canvas with an ArcGIS imagery layer or ArcGIS tiled imagery layer.

    • Raster Templates—This tool is only available when connected to the canvas with an ArcGIS imagery layer or ArcGIS tiled imagery layer.

  • Export tools—Export the current view into various file formats to use in briefings, presentations, or applications. These tools can only be used in the Map Panel when connected to an ArcGIS video layer or oriented imagery layer. The following are the Export tools:

    • Analysis Report

    • Screenshot

    • Imagery Clip—This tool is only available when connected to the canvas with an ArcGIS imagery layer or ArcGIS tiled imagery layer.

    • Attachment Report—This tool is only available when an observation layer is added to the canvas.

    • Video Frame—This tool is only available when connected to the canvas with an ArcGIS video layer.

    • Video Clip—This tool is only available when connected to the canvas with an ArcGIS video layer.

  • Observation tools—Collect and manage observations using feature layers or knowledge graph layers added to your map. These tools can only be used in the Map Panel when connected to an ArcGIS video layer or oriented imagery layer. The following are the Observation tools:

    • Collect Observations

    • Edit Observations

    • Chip Observations

The Collect Observations, Edit Observations, and Chip Observations tools are only available when an editable observation layer is added to the canvas.
