Add entities and relationships missing from the link chart
As you explore entities and relationships in a link chart associated with a knowledge graph, connections that exist between entities of interest may not be apparent because entities and relationship between the entities of interest are not present on the link chart. You can add entities and relationships that are not present in the knowledge graph by creating new entities and relationships. You can also use several analysis operations to add entities and relationships from the knowledge graph to your link chart.
Create new entities and relationships in a link chart
As you explore and analyze the content a link chart, you can create new entities and relationships in the knowledge graph. When you save the new entity or relationship in the project, any projects or portal content items that reference the same knowledge graph service will be updated.
On the context toolbar click Edit
.
The Edit pane appears.
Click the Type text box and select an entity or relationship type from the list. Alternatively, enter the type name.
Click the Entity or Relationship text box and click Create New.
Note:
You must also enter an origin entity type and destination entity type when creating a new relationship.
Optionally, enter any properties associated with the entity or relationship type.
Click the Create button.
The new entity or relationship is added to the knowledge graph and the active link chart.
Sketch a new relationship in a link chart
You can also sketch a relationship between two entities in a link chart.
On the context toolbar click Edit
.
The Edit pane appears.
Click the Type text box and select a relationship type from the list. Alternatively, enter the type name.
Click the Relationship text box and click Create New.
Under Relationship Endpoints, click the Sketch New Relationship button.
Click an entity in the link chart to be the origin entity.
The entity is selected in the link chart and the relationship sketch tool is active.
Optionally, press Esc to disable the relationship sketch tool without selecting a destination entity.
Click another entity in the link chart to be the destination entity.
Origin and destination entity information is populated under Relationship Endpoints in the Edit pane.
Click the Create button.
The relationship is added to the knowledge graph with any properties you entered.
Tip:
You can swap relationship endpoints in the edit pane. On the context toolbar click Edit
and click the Swap
button to swap origin and destination entity types and entities.

Whichever option you choose, the analysis is performed and the appropriate graph items are added to the link chart.
Add existing entities and relationships to a link chart
As you analyze a link chart you can use several tools to add entities and relationships that might be missing from the the link chart. These tools can add data from the knowledge graph to your link chart while also performing their primary function. These tools are outline below and detailed in their respective topics.
Connect From —Adds all relationships from the selected entities to any other entity on the link chart, regardless if it is selected or not.
Connect Between—Adds all relationships between the selected entities. The relationships are also added to the link chart.
Expand —Adds entities connected by any relationship type to the selected entity.
Filtered Expand —Adds entities connected by specific relationship types to the selected entity. The relationships are also added to the link chart.
Find Paths —Adds entities and relationships that exist along the shortest paths that connect two entities present in the link chart.
Filtered Find Paths —Adds entities and relationships that exist along shortest paths that connect two specific entities and satisfy all specified conditions.
Global Search —Add entities and relationships by searching the knowledge graph.
