Update Fleet Routing Assignments (Network Analyst Tools)

Summary

Reassigns or unassigns selected stops in a waste collection analysis and updates the analysis results based on the updated route assignments.

Usage

  • This tool can only be used with waste collection network analysis layers. The other solver types are not supported.

  • This tool updates the route assignment of selected stops. Before running the tool, select the stops in the Stops sublayer you want to update.

  • All stops located on a collection edge must be reassigned together and cannot be assigned to separate routes. Click the Select By Streets button on the waste collection layer's contextual ribbon to select all stops assigned to the same collection edge. If not all stops on a collection edge are selected when the tool is run, the tool will internally expand the selection set and reassign all stops on the collection edge.

  • Unlike the Solve tool, this tool can violate the route constraints for the maximum total time and distance. The capacity constraints can only be violated if renewals are not a part of the model; otherwise, more renewal visits will be inserted to satisfy the capacity constraints. A warning message will be returned for any violated constraints.

  • This tool is similar to the Update Fleet Routing Results tool. However, that tool only updates the results based on your manual edits to the route assignments, whereas this tool helps you reassign stops to specific routes before recalculating the results.

Parameters

Label Explanation Data type

Input Fleet Routing Layer

The waste collection network analysis layer to update.

Network Analyst Layer

Assignment Operation

Specifies the type of reassignment that will performed on the selected stops.

  • Not AssignedThe selected stops will be unassigned from their current routes and not included on any route. The routes they had been assigned to will be recalculated, allowing for sequence adjustments, and the metrics will be updated to account for the removed stops. Any route constraints that are violated to preserve the route assignment of the remaining stops on the route will be returned as warnings.

  • Single RouteThe selected stops will be reassigned to the specified route. All other stops currently assigned to the route will remain assigned to the route, but the sequences may be adjusted to account for the additional stops. The metrics will be updated to account for the additional stops assigned to the route as well as the removal of them from their previous route. Any route constraints that are violated to accommodate the reassignment of these stops will be returned as warnings. This is the default.

String

Route Names

(Optional)

The route to which the selected stops should be reassigned. This parameter is only relevant if the Assignment Operation parameter is set to Single Route, and only a single route name is allowed.
