Create a frame
Beta:
Frames are in beta. If you encounter issues or experience problems with a beta feature, please share your feedback on the Esri Community.
You can use ArcGIS StoryMaps to create frames, which are mobile-first, short-form stories that are fast to make and are optimized for sharing. You can use frames to share maps and information with audiences across social platforms and other communication channels.
Use the following steps to build your first frame:
Sign in to ArcGIS StoryMaps.
Click Create and click Frame to create a new frame and launch the frame builder.
The frame builder is where you assemble frames from a selection of content blocks such as text, maps, media, infographics, and ArcGIS apps. You can open the block palette to see the list of available content blocks.
Add details to the cover slide.
Title the frame. Optionally, add a subtitle.
The author name and publish date are added automatically. You can edit the author name, if needed.
Add an image, video, or background color.
Click the New slide button ⨁ to add a new slide to the frame.
Click the Add content block button ⨁ to open the block palette and add text, media, maps, embeds, ArcGIS apps, data visualizations, or other blocks to the slide.
Web maps and web scenes can be added from ArcGIS, and you can author express maps.
Note:
You can drag slides to rearrange their order in the frame. ArcGIS StoryMaps automatically saves your progress as you build a frame.
In the header, click Design to open the design panel.
The cover and theme options in the design panel allow you to change the appearance of the frame. For more information, see Set a theme.
Preview the frame.
In the header, click Preview to open preview mode so you can view the frame as the audience will see it.
Use the toolbar in the bottom corner of the screen to preview how the frame will look on different devices, such as phones, tablets, or desktops.
Return to the builder by closing preview mode using the toolbar in the bottom corner of the screen.
Publish the frame.
In the header, click Publish to open the publish page.
On the publish page, select the audience.
Click the Publish button to run the publishing process.
Note:
The publishing process checks to ensure all maps and layers will be accessible to the audience. If issues are detected, you are prompted to address them before continuing. For more information, see Publish.
Your frame is now published and ready to be shared.
