Install ArcGIS Documentation Center (Individual user)
Follow these instructions to install ArcGIS Documentation Center on your own machine using the installer. This method opens a wizard that steps you through the installation process.
Important:
If you are an administrator and want to set up Doc Center for multiple users in your organization, see Deploy for multiple users (IT administrators) for instructions on installing using the command line.
Steps
Open File Explorer and browse to the folder where ArcGIS Documentation Center was downloaded.
Double-click the file ending
.exeor.msi.The installation wizard opens.
Click Next to continue.
Review the master agreement and choose an option:
If you agree to the terms, click I accept the master agreement.
If you do not agree to the terms, click Cancel to exit the installation.
Click Next.
Choose the installation context:
Click Anyone who uses this computer (all users) (the default) for a per-machine installation. The app is installed in a shared location, and all user accounts on the machine will have access to it
Click Only for me for a per-user installation. Only your user account will have access to the app.
Note:
You must have administrative privileges to make a per-machine installation.
Click Next.
Under Destination Folder, accept the default installation location, or click Change to specify a different folder.
The default drive for the installation is on the drive where Windows is installed. The default folder depends on the installation context you chose in the previous step:
For a per-machine installation, the default folder is
Program Files\ArcGIS\DocumentationCenter.For a per-user installation, the default folder is
Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Programs\ArcGIS\DocumentationCenterwhere<username>is the Windows username of the user installing the application.
Note:
If you choose a location other than the default, it is recommended that the path include a folder and not be the root location of a drive. The modified path does not append
\ArcGIS\DocumentationCenter\by default.Click Next.
Click Install to begin the installation.
A status dialog appears.
Click Finish.
After installation
After installing, your next step is to start ArcGIS Documentation Center and choose settings for the application. Then you can download the documentation sets you need.
Uninstallation notes
If you ever need to uninstall Doc Center, you may want to consider whether to delete the settings folder and the root folder. They are not automatically removed when you uninstall the app because they may contain user data that you want to keep.
