Work offline in the field
Field work often requires access to documentation in locations where internet connectivity is unavailable or unreliable. ArcGIS Documentation Center supports this workflow by allowing you to prepare documentation in advance and use it locally while you are in the field.
Typical field workflow
A common field workflow looks like this:
While connected to the internet, install ArcGIS Documentation Center.
If your root folder is on your local machine, download the doc sets you need.
If your root folder points to a shared network drive, do the following:
Export documentation sets as ZIP files.
Change your root folder to a local folder on your machine.
Import the documentation sets into the root folder.
Disconnect from the network and verify the following:
You have the correct documentation sets on the Home tab for the products, versions, and languages you need.
You can open the documentation.
Go into the field and reference the documentation as needed.
Once documentation sets are on the local root folder, no internet connection is required to browse or search them.
