An overview of the Utility Network toolbox

The Utility Network toolbox contains tools to create, configure, and work with utility networks.

The toolbox also contains the Administration toolset that includes tools for core utility network management tasks, the Trace Configuration toolset that includes tools to create and work with trace configurations stored in the utility network, and the Migration toolset that includes tools to migrate data into a new utility network dataset.

Tools in the Utility Network toolbox

Tool	Description
Add Trace Locations	Creates a feature class to be used as the starting points and barriers input for the Trace tool.
Export Circuits	Exports feature and connectivity information about the features and objects that compose circuits in a telecom domain network. The data is saved as separate .json files for each circuit in a specified output folder.
Export Subnetwork	Exports subnetworks from a traditional domain network into a .json file. This tool also allows you to delete a row in the Subnetworks table as long as the Is deleted attribute is set to true. This indicates that the subnetwork controller has been removed from the subnetwork.
Trace	Returns network features in a utility network based on connectivity or traversability from the specified starting points.
Update Is Connected	Updates the IsConnected attribute on all the network features for the specified utility network based on connectivity.
Update Subnetwork	Updates subnetwork information in the Subnetworks table, the SubnetLine feature class, and subnetwork system diagrams for the specified subnetworks.
Validate Network Topology	Validates features with dirty areas in the network topology of a utility network after edits have been made.
Verify Circuits	Checks the validity of circuits in a telecom domain network after features associated with a circuit are modified. The operation confirms that a circuit can be traced from a circuit's starting location to its stopping location and ensures that the circuit, circuit sections, and subcircuits are properly configured.

Toolsets in the Utility Network toolbox

Toolset	Description
Administration	The Administration toolset contains tools to design and administer utility networks.
Trace Configuration	The Trace Configuration toolset in the Utility Network toolbox contains tools to create and work with named trace configurations in a utility network.
Migration	The Migration toolset contains tools to migrate data from a provided set of source feature classes into a new geodatabase and utility network dataset and to analyze and resolve utility network errors.
